Degrowth in Practice: Developing an Ecological Habitus within Permaculture Entrepreneurship

The literature on degrowth has suffered from only engaging with normative ideas. More recently the debate started moving a perspective to close wide gap that existed between ideas and is analysing how link institutional cultural environment shapes practices. To address this challenge, we draw work of Pierre Bourdieu in order examine transformations habitus forms capital those who decide move into sustainable entrepreneurship through permaculture Brazil. Permaculture represents vibrant alternative industrial food production addresses fundamental contemporary social problems, such as increasing inequalities, climate change loss biodiversity. article explores challenges faced respective responses their relationships nature society by becoming entrepreneurs (PEs). paper shows that, when entering universe, individuals start critically examining values ways living, which leads disengagement dominant patterns behaviour expectations pursue lifestyles thereby develop an ecological habitus.
